Here is a brief description of what our committees do:
CeleBEARty Wait Night
Traditionally held the first Sunday in March at a local restaurant. School and district staff serve as waiters at dinner. Patrons pay for their dinner and tips collected go to PTO, either for general funding or for a specific project. Serve on committee to work on decor, printing, seating, ticket sales and collection, and other needed efforts. Timing: November-March.
Cum Laude Banquet
The PTO helps set up, clean up, and perhaps organize food. Timing: April.
DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion)
The DEI liason will with DEI from other schools and the district to receive and relay information as well as lead co sponsored events.
Hospitality
Organizes cookies/water for Meet the Teacher night (September). Organizes either dinner/dessert for both conference nights in November and February. Organizes donation of coffee for the PTO meetings. Timing: Throughout year.
Membership
Generates ideas on how to increase membership including summer mailings, staff mailings and “free” offers to entice membership. Collects membership forms from book pick up dates and enters all information into spreadsheet which generates PTO email mailing addresses. Coordinates membership table at Meet the Teacher night for parents. Keeps membership spreadsheet up to date as additions are made. Distributes money collected to Treasurer/Treasurer Elect as directed. Reminds members of the Kroger/Giant Eagle rewards program (need to re-register every year). Timing: Throughout year.
National Honor Society Reception
PTO provides water, dessert, flowers and table coverings. Typically near the end of April on a Sunday afternoon. Timing: April
New Family Lunch
Help set up and clean up a luncheon for students new to UAHS. Timing: Late August / Early Sept.
School Store
Staff the School Store during open hours. Timing: Throughout year.
Science Fair Reception
Help with set up and clean up of food for 40+ judges who work at the science fair in the Learning Center. Timing: February.
Senior Celebration
Be part of this committee focused on creating a fun evening of activities for our seniors typically on the Sunday before Memorial Day weekend. Timing: January through May, depending on committee chairs.
Special Event Volunteer
Contacts members as needed to provide volunteers for events. Timing: Throughout year.
Staff Appreciation
Help the chairs execute small acts of kindness for our teachers and Staff. Could help with an event, also. Timing: Throughout year.
Student Orientation Days
Assist with distribution of schedules, senior parking places, and textbooks during student orientation days. Timing: Early-to-mid August.
